“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Lao Tzu

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Yasmina.

I was born in a country where Mathematics and Science are the major subjects in school.

Next to my home was the building of the Extended Math and Science High School for Gifted Students.

I still remember my happiness when I passed the admission exam and found my name in the list of the accepted students.

My discovery of Mathematics that sharpens the brain and requires a great amount of imagination had started.

I met my extraordinary Math teacher who not only developed our ( his students ) mathematical minds and demonstrated the beauty of Math, but also, and the most importantly, trained our spirit, courage and passion to think and concentrate deeply on everything we do.

I think that I have taken his ideas of teaching in my practice as a math teacher.

Graduated with Honor I worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Applied Mathematics and as a Math teacher at a gifted kids school.

Here in Canada, I am a High School Math teacher at Birmingham International College. This College is an accredited, multi-cultural, university preparatory school that offers high school credits. I also worked at “The Academy for Math and Science”, “Champs” and “Mr. Math” learning centers. I always liked teaching and the opportunity to help others to overcome difficulties in studying was my greatest joy.

Therefore I am very familiar with new and old curriculums.

Also I studied at the University of Toronto, and have Masters’ degree in Mathematics.

My easygoing and open nature allows me to establish good relationship with all of my students, which I consider very important. Together we always achieve better results in grades.

Logic Land, or into MATH with Imagination

“Logic Land, or into Math with imagination” is a collection of non-standard mathematical problems that are embedded in stories and illustrated. This book is about a fantastic town of magicians that do not use magic in everyday life. Instead they choose to use logic to find solutions to their everyday problems. Through solving the problems that are embedded in a story a student will learn how to distinguish the important information from unimportant one. Although the questions require only multiplication, division, subtraction, addition every problem is different and needs a new approach.
